Whistleblowers and the Military

Ian Fishback, an Army captain at Fort Bragg, recently spoke to Human Rights Watch about abuses of detainees by American soldiers. The possible abuses are now being investigated by the U. S. Army, but beyond the allegations, what are the repurcussions of going outside the military’s chain-of-command? Do soldiers put their careers at risk? And does the military offer opportunities for its soldiers to report such abuses? Host Frank Stasio speaks to: Scott Silliman, professor of law at Duke University; Marc Galasco, senior military analyst for Human Rights Watch; and Craig Marks, retired special forces officer.
