Political Roundtable

Political Roundtable: Election day is exactly two months away. Much of the attention this week is on the Republican National Convention in NY, but here at home in North Carolina, races for Governor and Senator are heating up. Host Melinda Penkava talks about political issues and the news of the day with Paul O’Connor, columnist for the Winston-Salem Journal; Ed Cone, who writes the weblog EdCone.com and contributes an opinion column to the Greensboro News & Record; and Mike Munger, Chair of the Political Science Department at Duke University. (40:00)

Weekend Look Ahead: With Hurricane Frances making her way up the coast, host Melinda Penkava checks in with the folks on Ocracoke Island to find out how they are fairing after Hurricane Alex and what they think this hurricane could bring. She’ll also talk with surfer and hurricane-watcher George Howard, owner of On-Shore, a surf shop in Topsail, where he’s expecting 10-15 foot waves this weekend. (17:30)
