Gun Laws In NC

Today marks the 10th anniversary of North Carolina’s concealed handgun law. For 116 years before this legislation took affect in 1995, North Carolina banned the carrying of any type of concealed weapon. Players on both sides of the gun control debate claimed victory when the original law was passed in 1995, but since then several modifications have been made to expand gun rights in this state. So, ten years later, what is the state of handgun legislation in North Carolina and what affect has the concealed handgun had on this state? Host Melinda Penkava talks with Freedom Press reporter Barry Smith; Lisa Price, Executive Director of North Carolinians Against Gun Violence; Paul Valone, President of Grass Roots North Carolina; and Henderson Chief of Police Glen Allen, President of the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. Listener Call-In. (59:00)
