Sliced Bread

Late last year, a labor union in Washington, DC, launched a competition for smart, fresh policy ideas from ordinary Americans. The Service Employees International Union, or SEIU, named the contest “Since Sliced Bread.” Nearly 23,000 ideas were submitted to a website and voted on. Two North Carolinians, Leslie Hester and Martin Johnson, are among the seven finalists for a top prize of $100,000. Host Frank Stasio talks with Hester and Johnson about their ideas: “Public Education Reform” and “3 Steps to Universal Health Care.” (7:00)
