Thomas Day

Thomas Day: The most successful furniture maker in antebellum North Carolina was Thomas Day, a free Black man in Caswell County. Host Frank Stasio talks with Laurel Sneed, founder of The Thomas Day Education Project, about using the story of Day and other lesser-known historical figures to tell stories of American history. Other guests include Beverly McNeil, a 4th Grade teacher at George Watts Montessori Elementary School in Durham, and Ken Grady, a historical re-enactor at the African American Cultural Complex in Raleigh.
