Coupling

Scott Huler and June Spence
It’s Valentine’s Day, but we are NOT going to talk about flowers or chocolate or greetings cards. Instead we’re going to get to the heart (ha, ha) of the matter and talk about love. Coupling, to be exact, is today’s topic. Host Frank Stasio speaks with Liza Weiland, author of two novels, two short story collections, a new book of poems and the essay “Preserved in Salt: How Emeril Live! and Egyptology are Saving My Marriage” which is collected in he new anthology “Why I’m Still Married (Hudson Street Press/2005). Wieland splits her time and her marriage between Oriental, NC and Fresno, CA. Also on the show: Dr. Redford Williams, Director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Duke University Medical Center discusses the health benefits of long term relationships; and married writers Scot Huler, author of “Defining the Wind” (Three Rivers Press/2005) and June Spence, author of “Change Baby” (Riverhead Trade Books, 2005) join the conversation to talk about competition and cooperation for the long haul. Listener Call-In. (59:00)
