Women In Film

As women take on roles behind the camera and in the director’s booth, media images from Hollywood to Bollywood are changing – changing to show how women view themselves and their countries. The 5th Annual Ms. Films Festival is opening in Durham next week and it will showcase more than two dozen films created by women of all ages and backgrounds. So just what effect can a woman’s touch have on the independent film industry, both abroad and at home? Host Frank Stasio talks with the Niku Arbabi, director of the Ms. Films Festival; and Maria Pramaggiore, director of film studies at North Carolina State University. Listener Call-In. (40:00)
