Branford Marsalis

He was born into a New Orleans family whose name is synonymous with jazz. But Branford Marsalis’s saxophone has played pop, funk and even classical music. Now the Durham-based musician is running a record label and spearheading efforts to build homes for musicians displaced by Katrina. Tonight and tomorrow he performs with the North Carolina Symphony.
