Let The Races Begin

Candidates for elected offices began registering on Feb. 12, with Feb. 28 being the last day to sign up. Most candidates have been fundraising for months, hoping to ease through the May 2nd primary and win election (or re-election) in November. How will scandals surrounding Speaker of the N.C. House Jim Black, the new lottery, and other ethics questions affect who wins various races? And will a new international port ever get built near Wilmington? These questions and others are posed by host David Crabtree to our guests: Laura Leslie, reporter at North Carolina Public Radio; Mark Schreiner, reporter at the Wilmington Star-News; and Mark Johnson, reporter at the Charlotte Observer. Listener Call-In. (40:00)
