Terry Sanford and the New South

A new documentary film examines Terry Sanford’s run for governor of North Carolina in 1960 in the context of the Civil Rights movement. Host Frank Stasio speaks with Thomas Lennon, director and producer of “Terry Sanford and the New South” about the film. He is joined by Joel Fleishman, professor of law and public policy and a former Sanford gubernatorial aide, and William Chafe, a Duke University history professor, to discuss Sanford’s legacy and progressive politics in the South.
