Voting

Experts are predicting that the turnout for Tuesday’s election could reach an all-time high. But even with so much on the line, millions of Americans – particularly the economically disadvantaged – won’t vote. So what motivates citizens to case ballots… or stay home? Host Melinda Penkava speaks with Mike Munger, chair of the political science department at Duke University; Michael Gillespie, professor of political science at Duke; Rebecca Moon, independent radio producer; David Shipler, author of “The Working Poor: Invisible In America” (Knopf/2004); and Cynthia Brown of the North Carolina Coalition for Black & Brown Civic Participation.
