Soviet VictorySoviet Victims at DachauSoviet Victory

Soviet Banner of Victory was the banner raised by Soviet soldiers on the Reichstag building in Berlin on May 1, 1945,
Text on the banner: 150th Rifle, Order of Kutuzov 2nd class, Idritsa Division, 79th Rifle Corps, 3rd Shock Army, 1st Belorussian Front.

While Dachau was not an extermination camp over the 12 years Dachau was in operation up to 32,000 inmates died from malnutrition, medical neglect, disease, overwork, and murder.

Among the murdered were up to 4000 Soviet POWs used at the adjoining SS training facility as live targets in weapons training.

A Russian Orthodox chapel is on the site of the concentration camp in their memory.
