broad questions

I know I'm jumping into this late, but the theme of people asking
really broad questions caught my eye. We have a web exhibit on
the Japanese-American Internment Camps, and that alone has
gotten questions like the following:

"I'm looking for any informaion that you may be able
to give me, and possibly your opinion about what happened."

and

"If my book [a novel about the camps] goes into publication all
contributing sources would be reimbursed. As this is my 2nd
attempt at publication I would says that it will not make it into
large circulation but there is always that chance. If you have any
pictures that you could email me I would appreciate it."

These are just two examples; I get at least half a dozen questions
like this a week. Most of them I answer by saying there are lots of
resources on this topic in your local library; why don't you go there
and look them up? Nicely, of course.

It really seems that the email and web era have greatly increased
this kind of question; we used to get them in the mail but not
nearly as many. Livin' in the modern age, I guess...
