Re: OCLC vs. RLIN
OCLC and RLG exchange records for preservation microform masters on a
monthly basis. The records are selected based on coding in the 007 field of
the MARC record. Because OCLC and RLG participate in this record exchange,
searching in either database for a preservation microform master should be
sufficient as there should be only minor differences between the two. These
databases are the most complete sources of catalogued preservation microform
masters available.

Subject: OCLC vs. RLIN
Greetings to all,
I've been doing working on research for several future microfilm grants, and
have found microfilm done to archival standards (1985 and up) in RLIN, but
not OCLC, and wanted to know if there was any information regarding the
percent of holdings in RLIN compared with those in OCLC; and determine if it
is necessary to check both to find out if a film as been made.
Thanks,
Harrison Wick
