Re: Searching for certain story from paterikon.
I can't easily identify a Greek text for this. Do you have reason to believe that it exists? Any clues that might help track it down?

Re: Aorist stem formation
Sigmatic Aorists and Pseudo-Sigmatic Aorists "Pseudo-sigmatic" is a new term and not particularly transparent as there is no sigma left in the form. "Liquid" aorist is the usual term, and as bad as "liquid" is, I see no reason to invent a term even more opaque. I actua...

Re: What next?
I've been considering incorporating the GNT into daily devotions Absolutely. And also, just read and listen, the more the better. If you have YouVersion on your cell phone, you can read and listen at the same time, using a modern pronunciation. Choose "BYZ04". Screenshot_20230818-115259.p...

Re: Introduction
Hello! I'm Adrian I'm currently a high school senior who has had an interest in Greek for some time. I taught myself first-year Greek with Mounce and second-year with Wallace, and I'm currently working on reading through the GNT (I have an NA28 as well as the free logos SBLGNT). Also working on Heb...

Re: ξύλον translated as “tree” in Deuteronomy and Acts
Hi, Jonathan. Is it intentional that your post has χ (chi: χύλον ) where everyone is talking about ξ (xi: ξύλον )? For example, when I look up Gen 2:9 from your list, it has ξ : καὶ ἐξανέτειλεν ὁ θεὸς ἔτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς πᾶν ξύλον ὡραῖον εἰς ὅρασιν καὶ καλὸν εἰς βρῶσιν καὶ τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς ἐν μέσῳ τῷ π...

Re: ξύλον translated as “tree” in Deuteronomy and Acts
I have not looked at these carefully, but here are places where a database glosses treats עֵ֖ץ as "tree". Most of these involve forms of δένδρον or χῦλον. ["GEN 2:9!7",עֵ֛ץ,"χύλον","tree"] ["LEV 19:23!7",עֵ֣ץ,"χύλον","tree"] [&quo...

I thought I would take a look. Here are two pages from that reader, taken from their website.

Re: Punctuation in the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
Wiktionary tells me that the άνω τελεία is used thus: 1. Separates groups of clauses in a sentence. 2. Separates two parts of a sentence where a κόμμα is thought to be inadequate. But Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς is not a clause, and the whitespace separates these three very parallel lines (which ...
