Re: Are there grounds for taking εἶδον as imperative in Rev.
Probably not. You are suggesting the 2nd aorist is taking a first aorist ending. The pattern is Καὶ εἶδον... 6.1 Καὶ εἶδον ...6.2 Καὶ εἶδον ... 6.5 ...καὶ εἶδον 6.8 καὶ εἶδον 6.9 εἶδον 6.12 καὶ εἶδον

Re: Books on Greek Idioms
What are you really looking for? Phrases like κατʼ ἴδιαν = ' privately, by themselves, in private' ? οἱ ἴδιοι ʼ associates, relations '; τὰ ἴδια ʼhome, possessions '? Is it that sort of content you are looking for? If you want to go forward on this post, you will have to change your username to your...

Re: What a difference a δή makes!
I have struggled with δη over the last few years in regards to composition. Does it follow or precede? It it used with nouns/verbs/infinitives/imperatives? What is the pattern that is dominant? Obviously, δη is an emotive particle. Denniston's Greek Particles discusses δη on pages 203-262. δη does o...

Re: What a difference a δή makes!
Perhaps a look at Epictetus' use of particles could be helpful here. Arrian is the author of Epictetus' Discourses (written in Koine) and the author of The Anabasis of Alexander (written in restored Attic). Arrian (Αρριανός) was a native Greek speaker, so there would be no non-native speaker influen...

The Biola record can be found at http://libcat.biola.edu/search/?searchtype=...

Re: List of New Testament Greek Primers/Beginning Grammars
I found this interesting Thesis by David Buttacavoli, Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, 2004: A descriptive analysis of selected first-year New Testament Greek grammars published after 1990 in light of second language learning research . Does anyone know if this is available in an opensou...

List of New Testament Greek Primers/Beginning Grammars
I'm trying to compile a list of all NT primers/beginning grammars printed since 1960. I have not found any list out there that is up to date or complete. Does anyone have an ongoing list? I've got about 40+ books in my list so far. I'll list them here when I think it is accurate. The hard part is th...

Re: Advanced learner goals?
Pick up and read Epictetus' Dialogues. (You could start with the Enchiridion, I keep a website with a lot of content on it at http://www.letsreadgreek.com/Epictetus/index.htm ). The Dialogues and Enchiridion (a summary of the Dialogues) is written in Literary Koine (in the NT, the book of Hebrews co...
