Prefixes

Post by Jonathan Robie »

What are the best references for prefixes?

I was pleased to encounter Wiktionary's catalog of Ancient Greek Prefixes. What other references are useful?

Another place where existing resources are lacking. Greenlee's (mediocre) morpheme lexicon is probably the best, but we need better analyses here.

Hmmm, this led to a conversation with James Tauber, which led to this:

For preverbs I have:

https://github.com/morphgnt/morphologic ... /verbs.txt

which is fairly well curated.

More problematic (partly because some of it may be derived uncritically from Greenlee's analysis and not double checked):

https://github.com/morphgnt/morphologic ... vation.txt

Much better than Greenlee for derivational morphology and cognates is Xavier Jacques's List of New Testament Words Sharing Common Elements: Supplement to Concordance or Dictionary [Scripta Pontificii Instituti Biblici 119] which, importantly, gets the thumbs up from John Lee!
