The Middle is the first thing I looked at, too. I was interested in the division of middle into the categories Direct (on himself), Indirect (for himself), Subjective (from himself). I wonder if this categorization is unique to Goodell?
I do wish I had a simpler mental catalog of self-affected uses than the list below, but maybe it's just wishing that the complex be simple.
