Theme: Psalms: Layer by Layer
Nida Institute – Copenhagen Alliance
Reinier de Blois, Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship at the American Bible Society, Presiding
11/23/2021
9:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Room: 208 (Meeting Room Level) - San Antonio Convention Center

Psalms: Layer by Layer is a new initiative for creating exegetical resources for Psalms targeted at the needs of Bible translations. These resources focus on literary quality and communicative effect. The project’s goal is to produce simple, visual outlines of each Psalm with key structural, literary and performance (including emotional) features from the Hebrew. We will produce a series of visualisations for each Psalm that present, in successive stages (from simple overview to complex and detailed), what we understand to be the 'inner logic' of the Psalm. Academic analysis is thus packaged so as to make it accessible and useful to Bible translators without an academic background.
  • Elizabeth Robar, Cambridge Digital Bible Research, Panelist
  • Ryan Sikes, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Panelist
  • Joshua Harper, Dallas International University, Panelist
