How do I write...

Post by Scott Lawson »

How do I write/say?: One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.

This is what I've come up with:

εἱς ἰχθύς, δύο ἰχθῦς, ἰχθύς κόκκινος, ἰχθύς ὑακίνθινος

Is there a better way? Are there any solecisms?

Well, for 'two fish' you'd need to use the plural form ιχθυες (or, in a more classical mode, the dual form ιχθυε).

Thanks Timothy! I thought that the circumflex changed it plural. Is this not so? I found the form in my middle Liddell.

Seems odd... if I'm not mistaken, ἰχθῦς is a contracted form of the accusative plural ἰχθύας.
