A search of TLGe returns 691 instances of ἡ θεός, in Plutarch, Aesop, many scholia, Athanasius, Dio Chrystostom, Chariton, Athenaeus (Deipnosophistae), among other writers.

I'll say. I've learned Spanish and Arabic in the classroom, and tackled Hebrew, Greek, and French by independent study, but I've never encountered a "first declension" by such a name. I could, however, instantly translate the above into "the cock, the hen, and the[ir] young."
