Jeremy Alexander Bland, age 43, a resident of Carrboro, N.C., died Friday, May 21 at his home.
Born February 23, 1967 in New York City, Jeremy had been a resident of North Carolina since 1973, first living in Durham, N.C., then growing up in Chapel Hill, N.C. He graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1985, then moved to Israel, where he lived for eight years. Jeremy served in the Israel Defense Forces for two years and also was a member of the Kibbutz Chanaton in the Galilee.
He attended Catawba Community College and had lived in Carrboro for 15 years. Jeremy had been employed as a landscaper at the University of North Carolina for the past 11 years. A member of Beth-El Synagogue, he was active in Young Judea.
Surviving are his children, Amichai Bland and Maayan Bland, both of Jerusalem, and Jonah Barosh of State College Pa.; his sister, Tamar Adinah Bland of Petaluma, Calif.; his father. Dr. Kalman P. Bland of Durham; his mother, Dr. Alice Engel Levinson, and his stepfather, Dr. Sidney Engel Levinson, both of Hillsborough, N.C.
