Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools opened the 2010-11 school year last week with an estimated 11,740 students and more than 2,000 staff members.
A fleet of 60 buses returned to the roads Aug. 25 to deliver students to the district’s 18 campuses. A new food service vendor, Chartwells, began serving breakfast and lunch to students and staff, with new serving stations at some schools and new menu options at all schools.
Kindergarten students started the year with a half-day orientation session at their new elementary schools. Friday was the first full day for kindergartners.
