Dominic Angelo Paoli, 89, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2010 at Carolina House of Chapel Hill where he had been a resident for several years.
He was born in Frontenac, Kan., on December 1, 1920. He attended Pittsburg State University and joined the Army Air Corp, serving as a paratrooper during World War II.
He married Eloise L. Paoli on September 9, 1944 in Greensboro, N.C., and lived in Greensboro until moving to Chapel Hill, N.C., in 2005.
He was an accountant for several firms in Greensboro until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years and his brothers, Jonas Paoli and Antone D. Falletti. He is survived by his daughter, Donna Paoli Cornick of Chapel Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Don and Joan Emerson of Rancho Mirage, Calif.; sister, Marion Ransom of Hilliard, Ohio; sister-in-law, Lois Paoli of Canyon Lake, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and the adopted family of Rachel Goins of Cary, N.C., Tiffany Goins of Cary and Noelle Glass of Charlotte.
Grateful appreciation is extended to the wonderful staff at Carolina House of Chapel Hill, to the doctors at Doctors Making House Calls and the Duke Hospice team members for their care and support.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Legion Road with military honors.
