This is hard to believe! I ride in Chapel Hill and have done so for years, but I’ll assure you that Chapel Hill is anything but bicycle-friendly. The only ones who could possibly consider Chapel Hill bicycle-friendly would be those who do not ride in Chapel Hill.
Not only does Chapel Hill have a shortage of bicycle lanes and bicycle paths, but the lax adherence to speed limits, traffic signal and signs, and lack of general motoring courtesy from those in automobiles make it anything but friendly.
The most one could say for Chapel Hill in this regard is that the award is wishful thinking. For those of you who think it may be bicycle-friendly, let me suggest you get out of your gas-powered vehicle and see for yourself. And take it from one with a good bit of experience in this, do be careful.
