Chapel Hill resident Walter Rogan was named an honorary fellow by the American Academy of Pediatrics for his service with the organization’s council on environmental health.
Rogan is head of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences group, which studies children’s health. Rogan is widely recognized as one of the field’s leading scientists with regard to the environment and human growth and development.
Rogan will officially be presented with the award at the May 21 AAP meeting in Washington, D.C.
