The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber’s Women Executive Series presents N.C. Treasurer Janet Cowell on Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Governors Club. As the state’s fiscal advisor, Cowell oversees more than $68 billion in pension fund investments affecting 820,000 public employees, including teachers, firefighters and other government employees. Jackie Bedard will present “Parents’ Peace of Mind: Protecting Your Most Important Assets-Your Children†on Sept. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bedard is an attorney and founder of Carolina Family Estate Planning in Cary. The center’s free Homebuyer Education Program will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The session is designed to educate first-time homebuyers about the process and responsibilities involved in purchasing, owning and maintaining a home. Eight hours of homebuyer education is required for many affordable homeownership programs and first-time homebuyer loan packages.
