The Town of Carrboro is expanding its energy-efficiency program to include subsidies for residential energy assessments for homeowners. Funding will be provided by the U.S. Department of Energy, and the town has set up a network of prequalified contractors to conduct energy assessments for eligible homeowners.
The town will subsidize a maximum of 75 percent of the cost of assessment, up to $150. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to cover the rest of the cost and to contact the prequalified contractors to set up the assessment and set the fee. The town has $5,000 in funding to be assigned first come, first served.
