Community members have the opportunity to nominate men and women for the Salute to Community Heroes award through Nov. 11.
In December the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber will recognize men and women who are committed to making the area a thriving, healthy and sustainable community. The four awards are:

• Town & Gown Award – presented to an individual who fosters a mutually beneficial relationship between the community and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
• Jim Gibson Volunteer of the Year – presented to an individual who has shown commitment to volunteerism and service to community
• Irene Briggaman Lifetime Achievement Award – presented to an individual who has demonstrated a lifetime of exceptional public service and volunteerism
The 2011 Salute to Community Heroes is presented by Time Warner Cable Business Class and sponsored by Piedmont EMC, State Farm – Pam Herndon and BB&T.
