Percy T. Riley, 91, of Hillsborough passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
Percy was born on Aug. 31, 1918 in Orange County, N.C. He was the son of the late Paul Miller and Mary Oakley Riley. He attended Hillsborough High School and was a lifelong member of Eno United Methodist Church. He married Helen L. Cox on Oct. 1, 1946 and would have been married 63 years on Oct. 1, 2009. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Percy wore several hats over his working career and owned several businesses, namely: Riley’s Taxi Cab (slogan: “Live and Let Liveâ€), Riley Construction Company and Riley’s Market.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Randy M. Riley and his wife, Suzanne, of Gastonia, Russell D. Riley of Hillsborough and Tracey R. Boley and her husband, Mike, of Efland; one sister, Ramona Overman of Hillsborough; one brother, James Riley of Hillsborough; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
