Grab your Easter baskets –organizations throughout the area are hosting Easter egg hunts and other events this week in celebration of the approaching Easter holiday. Egg hunts start this weekend and continue through Easter Sunday.
• The towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and Orange County will present the annual Community Egg Hunt this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Hank Anderson Park. Local children’s band Sand Box will provide entertainment starting at 9:30 a.m. More than 10,000 eggs will be hidden with prizes for numbered and golden eggs. Crafts, games and a fire-safety puppet show will follow the hunt and the Easter Bunny will be available for photos. The event is free and open to the public, though the egg hunt is only open to children aged 2 to 10. • The Eno River Farmers Market will host Eggstravaganza this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Public Market House on East Margaret Lane in downtown Hillsborough. The event will feature egg dyeing using free-range eggs and dyes made from fruits and vegetables, as well as chicken coop displays with newborn chicks. In addition, egg recipes will be available and participants will be able to sample or purchase egg-based products. The event is free and open to the public.
