Wine & Undercover Southern Fare Social

New Uses for Old Southern Condiments

Through her artisan food venture, Farmer’s Daughter, April McGreger reintroduces us to some forgotten culinary treasures of the Southern larder. For this social, the menu is vintage Southern, yet thoroughly chic: pastured pork rillettes with spiced muscadines, bacon-wrapped bourbon’d figs, field pea cakes with tomato jam, and a German-style cheesecake with gingered-pumpkin preserves. This promises to be a memorable food event complete with our own inspired wine pairings. Learn a little something about Southern food tradition, and explore fantastic wine and food pairings that will energize your dinners at home. 6-8pm, $18 in advance, or $20 at the door.

Barbecue Joint sausage + Farmer’s Daughter sauerkraut = the best Choucroute Garnie you may ever taste. The evening will feature local pork and Alsatian wine pairings. 5pm, $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Seating is limited, so a reservation is highly recommended.

from Jay Murrie of 3CUPS, “Sam Suchoff of the BBQ Joint mentioned he could whip up a mean choucroute, an Alsatian standard featuring sauerkraut and sausage. Done. I immediately started work on the wine pairings. Rigorous, sausage-based scientific research. Sam’s charcouterie event in January was a crazy raucous good time- check out the encore. Otherwise I’ll gloat about the food when we see each other and you will be sad.”
