Environmentally friendly CROP hunger walk

The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service and Church World Service are hosting a community CROP Hunger Walk on Sunday, March 22. This is the 23rd year that community members will walk through Chapel Hill and Carrboro to raise money to fight hunger. IFC has raised more than $1 million over that last 22 years. They have seen significant increases in demand due to the economy and are hoping for record turn-outs in participation this year. The event will be more environmentally friendly this year with organic t-shirts and no water stations to reduce waste. Registration for the walk starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Carrboro Town Commons and the walk starts at 2:30. For more information contact Shannon Gigliotti at (919) 929-6380 ext. 20, or email cropwalk@ifcmailbox.org.
