Fire at NAPA store

This from the Carrboro Fire Department on this morning’s fire on Brewer Lane:

Carrboro – Carrboro Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the NAPA Auto Parts Store on Brewer Lane at 7:00 Thursday morning. The business was closed at the time of the fire. The building sustained significant fire damage in the office area and smoke damage throughout. Although hampered by security bars and metal doors, firefighters were able to mount an interior attack and keep the fire out of areas where flammable liquids were located. The fire was declared under control at 7:25. The building was not equipped with a fire alarm system or sprinklers. Carrboro firefighters were assisted by crews from the Chapel Hill, New Hope, and North Chatham Fire Departments and Orange County Emergency Medical Services. The fire remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
