A weekend of good books

McIntyre’s in Fearrington presents two authors discussing their recent works this weekend:

• Joshua Howard will read from and discuss Long, Obstinate and Bloody: The Battle of Guilford Courthouse, the first book-length examination of the Guilford Courthouse engagement draws from hundreds of previously underutilized pension documents, muster rolls, and personal accounts. Howard is research historian at the North Carolina Office of Archives and History. Saturday, April 4, 11 a.m. FREE

• Robert Brown will read from and discuss Sonnets: A Mystery, a mystery with heart-pounding suspense, clever plot twists and a refreshing literary flair. Brown is a native of Mobile, Alabama but he and his wife live in Cary. He has completed a second suspense novel and is working on his third. Sunday, April 5, 2 p.m. FREE
