Japanese prisoners of war rescued from
the water and captured by the crew of LSM 34, date and place unknown.
Ralph reported that the Japanese were very reluctant to surrender for
at least two reasons. Their military culture and training discouraged
surrender and they feared mistreatment or execution by the Americans.
Ralph reported that they were able to rescue Japanese military
personnel from the water who were too exhausted to resist capture.
