Comments: [Sheesh! Few dances take this much verbiage to describe adequately!]

* Al Olson sure was surprised when I called this version of Jump to the Stars, for the first time, one evening, without 'warning' him. It is very different from the original in many ways, yet preserves the essential feel of the original idea.

* Al named it Jump to the Stars as a warning to the Inactive couples. The Inactives are sometimes 'caught flat-footed' when they are needed - especially when forming the first star at the end of A2. It's worth telling the Actives that they will not touch each other during the B1 phrase.

* It can be made a bit easier to dance, though also less zesty, by shortening the Allemande Left to 1-1/4.

* I've written the notation for this dance using the older Active/Inactive terminology, rather than the current 1s/2s terminology, in part as a hat tip to its beginnings ... But that terminology also lends itself to a modern presentation. This dance can be presented with alternating Actives and Inactives - just as Contra Corners dances are sometimes presented. That version is called "Star Struck"
