Andrae Patterson has always struck me as a player that can be good through my three years of watching Big Ten basketball. However, Patterson has always seemed to fade as the year wears on. Was it just because he didn't get along with Bobby Knight? Possibly. Remember, he was one of three players (along with Neil Reed and Charlie Miller) that Knight told to transfer. However, Patterson has always been capable of the big game. Witness his domination of Duke during the preseason NIT in 1996. Patterson apparently also showed that he can play by making the all tournament team in the Desert Classic. However, I would question whether or not Patterson could put up that type of performance for a whole year. He seems to have the talent, but not always the will. It is possible that getting out from under Knight will make him better. Patterson, because of his talent level, is easily worth a late first round to middle second round pick. |
