Scouting reports

Scout: JazzyJ

Known as "The Helicopter", Melvin Levett is best known for his spectacular leaping ability and subsequent dunks, but as a senior, Levett's game became a little more well-rounded. But boy, can he jump. If this kid makes it in the NBA and the NBA reinstates the dunk contest, he should make some noise. Levett had a solid career at Cincinnati, especially in his last 2 seasons. Levett spent his first 2 seasons moving up the depth chart, but got consistent playing time starting his junior year. Known best as a slasher offensively, Levett added to his game the 3-pt shot, which he took rather liberally. A very streaky shooter, Levett doesn't hit the highest percentage from deep, but can knock them down on occasion in bunches. Highlight of his senior season was probably the last-second dunk he had in the Great Alaska Shootout to beat Duke. As is the case with most Bob Huggins players, Levett is a solid defender.

One of the main things working against Levett here is his height. Listed at 6'3", he's probably going to have to play some point guard and he's not particularly close to being that type of player, although he does take care of the ball well. You can't argue with the athleticism though, and if Kris Bruton can get drafted for his hops, Levett certainly can. A good Chicago camp performance will solidfy 2nd round draft status for him.
