Misc. Perspectives … A Work in Progress: Artwork by Jason Reynolds

Opening August 31and closing October 30, 2010 at the Gaston County Museum’s bull pen is Misc. Perspectives … A Work in Progress: Artwork by Jason Reynolds.

Reynolds Exhibit - Seonid paintingJason is enrolled in the arts program at Gaston College exploring many different aspects in the art world. His goal is to finish college with a bachelor of fine arts in painting. Jason uses a combination of acrylics and oils to paint on canvas using a classic style with a modern twist. He attributes his influences in his paintings to his love of comics. Besides art and music his interests also include web and graphic design and theater arts.

Artist Statement:
Throughout my art I have had a unique perspective on reality and I like to project an emotion whether it be through color or imagery. My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience, but I've always loved comic books. Painting to me is a good vehicle for translating my personality and interests into an outer reality. My whole intent in my art is to combine traditional artwork with comic book sensibilities, mixed with social commentary and my personal views.

The Museum is working in conjunction with Gaston College to provide a venue for upcoming local artists to exhibit their artwork. Throughout 2009-2010, seven artists will be featured in solo shows, so stay tuned for more information on upcoming exhibits.
