Tai Sing Loo was a well-known photographer of Navy ships and other subjects at Honolulu, Hawaii, during the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. An employee of the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard during at least some of this time, he appears to have pioneered the practice of photographing ships so they appear to be framed by palm trees.
