    "Belgians Learn about U.S. Navy"


    "Laughing at a salty cartoon in the Navy magazine All Hands are two Belgian officials and a seaman aboard the aircraft carrier USS Antietam (CV-36) operating in the Far East. From the left are: Lt. Colonel Caston Daelemans, Belgian Army, chief of the liaison mission of the Belgian battalion in Korea; Harold J. Paul, seaman, ...; and Viscount Alain de Prello, United Nations correspondent from 'Europe Amerique' in Brussels, and 'Le Moustique' in Charleroi."
    "The Belgians were invited by Vice Admiral C. Turner Joy, USN, Commander Naval Forces, Far East, to make the cruise and to see the Navy's planes from the Antietam hit the enemy."

    Fly the flags of Thailand, during transfer ceremonies at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan, 29 October 1951.
    Both ships are still wearing their U.S. Navy numbers. Glendale became the Thai Navy ship Tachin. Gallup became the Thai Navy ship Prasae.

    Almirante Brion
    (Columbian Frigate, 1953. Formerly USS Burlington, PF-51)

    "New Columbian Frigate -- While a Navy band plays and the last group of American sailors prepares to disembark, Columbian crewmembers assemble before boarding their new ship, the patrol frigate Almirante Brion. The former USS Burlington (PF-51) was transferred from the United States Government to the Government of Columbia in ceremonies at the Yokosuka Naval Base on June 26, 1953."
