USS Texas was a second-class battleship built between 1889 and 1895. She had an active role in U.S. Navy operations around Cuba during May-July 1898, participating in the 3 July 1898 battle off Santiago that destroyed Spain's naval forces in the Western Hemisphere. Though of an outdated design, Texas remained in service until 1911. In that year, shortly after being renamed San Marcos, she was sunk during ordnance tests in Chesapeake Bay.
This page features views of the Texas, including photographs taken on board the ship.
