Survivors of USS Yorktown Return to Pearl Harbor

In the days after USS Yorktown was abandoned on 4 June 1942, most of her rescued crewmen were transferred from the crowded destroyers to cruisers and then to the submarine tender Fulton (AS-11). On 8 June, nine days after she steamed out to do battle, four days after she was disabled and a day after she sank, Yorktown's survivors returned to Pearl Harbor. Injured men went to the Naval Hospital, while the rest were soon reassigned to other ships and units of the fast-growing wartime Navy.

This page features images of Yorktown's survivors en route to and arriving at Pearl Harbor.
