Action between USS Constitution and HMS Guerriere, 19 August 1812


Engraving by Roberts and W. Croome, depicting the explosion of the British frigate Guerriere on 20 August 1812, following her defeat and disablement by USS Constitution the day before. Guerriere was found to be in a sinking condition and, following removal of her crew, was set afire and soon blew up.
