The two large basins in the foreground are the Commercial Basin (left) and the Tidal Basin (right). The city of Cherbourg is in the center left, with the Naval Dockyard and fortifications in the upper left.
Fort du Homet is the largest building the the center background, at the water's edge. Note the shiphouses in the Naval Dockyard.
