U.S. Frigate Constitution defeats HMS Java,
off the coast of Brazil, 29 December 1812


Letterpress reproduction of an artwork by Rod Claudius, 1937, depicting Constitution (at right) astern of the largely dismasted Java.

The original painting is credited to the U.S. Naval Academy Museum, Annapolis, Maryland, and was reproduced circa the later 1930s by courtesy of ex-Navy personnel in the Sperry Gyroscope Company.
