Washington Navy Yard, D.C.

View in the north central part of the Navy Yard, taken by Brady & Company in June 1866. The building at the right, with a Bureau of Ordnance shield above the door, bears a sign identifying it as a "Shell House". It has a large number of round shot and what appear to be rifled gun projectiles stacked by its side.
The photograph looks west and slightly south from the roof of a building located on the site of the present (1997) Quarters N & O.
