S.S. Vittorio Emmanuele III
(American Freighter, 1918)

Photographed just after she was launched by the Seattle Construction & Dry Dock Company, Seattle, Washington, 24 May 1918.
Laid down as S.S. Dungeness and renamed before launching, this ship was taken over by the Navy on 27 June 1918 and placed in commission one day later as USS Vittorio Emmanuele III (ID # 3095). She was returned to the U.S. Shipping Board on 3 April 1919.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
