Action between U.S. Frigate Constitution and HMS Java, off the coast of Brazil, 29 December 1812


Plan of the battle, published in the "Naval Chronicle", Volume 29, London, England, 1813. It shows the ships' maneuvers between the opening of fire at 2:10 PM and 5:50 PM, when Constitution took a raking position off the dismasted Java's bow, prompting the British frigate's surrender.
